The name of the company “Nkateko” was named after my son; it is a Tsonga name meaning, “We are fortunate”. Africans are fortunate to have someone in this era who will address nutritional issues in their languages that they understand so as to properly manage any debilitating medical conditions in our societies.
Mr. L.V. Gumede started his primary education at Mbodla Primary School and went to Ezinhlabeni High School where he completed his matric in the Northern part of KwaZulu-Natal. In 2007 he went to University of Zululand to do BSc in Nutrition for a year only and then went on to Medunsa Campus in 2008 to complete his BSc in Dietetics and Human Nutrition. He worked at Ixopo Christ The King Hospital for the duration of one year community service, and worked at Emseleni Hospital after the completion of community service. He then went into private practice in 2016 to date.
We are currently working with Department of Correctional Services assisting with nutritional services for offenders. Offices are based at Harding Medical Centre; Mpilenhle Medical Centre (Greytown and Howick); Dr Parak and Silas’s Surgery at Ixopo; Port Shepstone opposite Hibiscus Private Hospital and Luminjalo Medical Centre in Pietermaritzburg. We are also currently able to service in-patients in Pietermaritzburg at DayMed Private Hospital, MediClinic Hospital, Net Care St Anne’s hospital and Midlands Medical Centre, with Hibiscus in Port Shepstone at the moment.
